Wear loose clothing as it will not restrict any movement.  You need to perform yoga on an empty stomach, prior to a meal or an hour or so after having meals. Perform asanas at your own pace. You should not exert yourself, if you experience pain during any asanas.

Beginners should start with moderate and move forward to do complex movements as you gain expertise. Yoga stresses the importance of keeping the breathing pace similar throughout the asanas.

Beginners will find it relatively easy to start with simple breathing exercises such as kapalbhati, pranayama, and anuloma-viloma.  These exercises are known to improve lung capacity and ease stress.

Yoga comprises of different postures, which include standing, reclining, forward bends, side bends, backward bends, inverted and balancing postures, and twist and seated postures. Back Bends:  Strengthens the arms and shoulders, and increases flexibility of the spine.
