How to Lose 10 Pounds in 2 Weeks Naturally
Have you ever wondered if it is possible to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks? Losing ten pounds in two weeks sounds like a reasonable goal for most people, however let’s break it down and examine this a little closer. To lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks, a person would have to lose five pounds per week, which means they would have to lose nearly a pound each day. Now let’s do some further exploration to see if losing ten pounds in two weeks is reasonable and safe.
Based on the same information found all over the internet, we can all agree that to burn one pound of fat you need to burn around 3500 calories. So to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks a person would have to burn up a total of 35,000 calories over the two week period. Divide that into 14 days, and it means that a person would have to burn up 2,500 calories per day. So far it is not sounding too good, below are some figures in case you want to do the math yourself.
- 1 pound = 3,500 calories
- 10 pounds = 35,000 calories
- 2 weeks = 14 days
- 35,000 calories / 14 days = 2,500 calories per day
The daily calorie intake varies based on your activity and your weight, but based on ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine1) the average daily intake per day should be around 2,000 for a woman and around 2,500 for a man. Also they recommend that the calorie levels per day should never drop below 1,200 for a woman and 1,800 calories for a man.
Clearly we can see the average person will have zero calories left over after the day is over, and there will be some dangerous health issues if they attempt to try this diet. So without a doubt ladies and gentlemen don’t try this at home or anywhere, unless you’re a glutton for punishment or can drink only tap water for 14 days straight.
I’m sure there are a few people out there who can claim to have lost 10 pounds or more in two weeks, but the only way I can see somebody losing ten pounds in two weeks is if they had some really bad health issues or they ate or drank nearly 10 pounds of food before they started the diet. (My next article will be can a person eat 10 pounds of food.)
