Choosing a Gym

Before starting my strict diet plan I decided to choose a gym.  I didn't have my own gym at home, plus even if I did I don't know if I would have enough motivation or interest to keep working out.  Below are some ideas and questions to ask when choosing a gym.

  • Promotions and Deals.
  • Location of Gym
  • Variety of workout equipment.
  • Staff Provides Friendly support.
  • Cleanliness

Promotions and Deals

With all the gyms popping all around, competition has become fierce and most gyms are now offering nice incentives to sign up.  Try to stay away from lengthy contract deals, because if you decide to quit early you may be forced to keep paying.  Most gyms are not using lengthy contracts due to competition.  Search around for the best deals and keep an eye out for promotionals.

Location of Gym

If the price is right, choose a gym that is close to either your home or work.  The closer it is to you the better chance you have of not avoiding a work out, and it will feel like a routine.  For me I chose one close to work so that I can go straight to the gym after work.  I always feel motivated to work out after work, don't know why.

Variety of Workout Equipment

When your choosing a gym to work out, look at equipment availability, if its to busy you may have problems getting a full workout.  Also look at the variety of workout equipment, because you may find it very boring if your limited on what you can do.  Look for things like;

  • cardio machines
  • fee weights,
  • indoor track,
  • swimming pool,
  • saunas

Staff Provides Friendly Support

When you have a workout question its always nice if the staff provides friendly support you can count on.  Another thing you may want ask is whether they have medical team or health physysian  in case of injuries which can happen. I can't remember how many time I pulled a back or muscle.

Cleanliness

The last important thing is cleanliness, with so many people using the same equipment, it makes it easy to pass germs and bacteria.  Some gyms carry spray bottles to wipe down the equipment.  I always carry a small hand towel to wipe down the handles before and after my workout.
