Why can't I lose weight?

How much weight do you want to lose?

Give yourself some realistic goals for losing weight.  Below are some examples.

  • lose 10 pounds per month
  • lose 1 inch on waist per month
  • Run an extra mile per month

This gives you something to aim for and even if you don't hit your goals you should be able to see some progress and recalculate your diet program.  You may have to increase your exercise time or reduce your calories, or maybe your goals where to ambitious and maybe lowering weight loss program to something more reasonable.  What ever the case as long as you are losing weight, that should give you something to measure your progress and setup your goals for losing weight.

What will you do to lose weight?

For most people this is the hardest part, but nothing is going to change unless you do. So what changes are you willing to make for your strict diet plan?

  • Will you follow a particular plan or just cut down in general?
  • How will you know if you're succeeding?
  • What exercise program will you take ?

Ask yourself questions and decide what you will do. Sometimes its as easy as just doing it, put on your jogging shoes and run around the block, or hop your bike and ride.  The first step is always the hardest but once you set up a routine it will feel like part of your everyday life, and missing one day would feel very odd.

Who will support you?

Some people will encourage you and help with your diet plan, while others will get in the way of your plans and goals. But never feel discouraged about what you do, just stay focused on losing weight and find others who take your interest or role models who will help you maintain your goals.  If you can afford it think about getting a coach or enrolling in a workout program, these programs can really make the difference when you want to lose weight.
